My Life In Poems: by, Harriette Sucher

Pls Note: All works I present here are copyright the moment I publish them. Some of my works may have been copyright earlier, especially my songs.

January, 24, 2024 I will start out with a song I wrote when I was about 16 years old in 1976: Look Into The Mirror. These are the lyrics of a young girl with hopes and dreams of being guitar playing singer/songwriter:

(edited lyrics 1/26/24) Wake up in the mornings to wake up all my honeys.

Get them all their breakfast, oh! Gee! I feel so lucky!

See them off to school. See him off to work. Good-bye! Bye-bye!

Look into the mirror. See my mornin’ face. OH! My! My, my!

Fix my mornin’ face and I have my mornin’ coffee.

If the world is bad this mornin’, I’ll still feel happy.

Look out at the weather. Look at the news….Oh! Good! Good DAY!

And as the days goes on….reflections come along in a lovely way.

As I look, into the mirror….all I see is reflections of you and me.

In this world of people, what could be better?

A family built together, built by just you and me.

A familyyy…..a fammmillly…..a fammilllyyyy!!

As the evening comes around, the family is homebound.

Not hate but love is on the home grounds.

Nestle by the TV. See a good show. Then off to bed.

And as all is of to sleep, not a word but “Goodnight!” is said.

And….as I look, into the mirror, all I see

is reflections of you and me.

What could be better? A family built together.

Built by just you and me! A FAMILY! A FAMMMILLLLYY! A FAMMILLLYYYY!!!!

Next up: things from a diary keeper- ME! Yes I do have apx 50 diaries! But I thought it would be a nice idea to have poems created in them and hoped that people would eventually see them, namely my family but when I die, at least these will live on either way. Enjoy them. They are parts of my soul. This next one below is from an older 1990s diary but I stashed in a 2011 diary.

It’s “The Spirit Of Kennedy”.

I look up and I wonder about what I see…..if the heart is the soul,

then the mind must be the spirit…….

So when I look up, do I see the spirit of Kennedy,

on the moon for an eternity?

Have you been waiting for justice

hoping the world would someday see

that when the eyes on earth would look up at the moon,

they’d be seeing the spirit of Kennedy?

Below is from 2011. “I Saw An Angel Today” from one of my diaries. I was to read this at a horribly sad event when a very loved local nicknamed “Cowboy” was to be evicted after a 30+ year loving union and being a caregiver for cancer stricken Lucille. I got to know these two before she died. He loved her, took care of her, unselfishly but instead of honoring her wishes that he retained the home they lived in, went through years of all the good things in life then all the bad things that life can bring…..he was evicted and with no-where to go right after she died. I was so marvelled at the goodness that existed in this town by non-family members that I was inspired to write this poem, that there are ANGELS amongst us and we may see them, the GOD is good, people can be his Angels, the animals can be them, too. I used loved ones birthdays and other standout dates in my life for each portion of the poem.

Next is: “Our Two Souls” A Valentines Day Poem

Yep….I am a fan of alot of singers, songwriters, actors, actresses. I wanted to be a singer/songwriter, would even jam with the LATE DENNIS KAUFMAN who could play a MEAN VAN HALEN tune on his electric guitar when he came to live here in Lower Lake, CA. Yes….we in the Zodiac Cases had other demensions to our lives and one of the things Dennis, his brother Charlie had in common was music, hopes and dreams of hitting it big in the music world. Dennis could play every tune by the great Johnny Cash, too. Anyway, here is something that was inspired by “FABIAN” from 2010. In the 2010 year I was very much into the Zodiac Jack Tarrance cases and much of what happened is in this diary. I also had a life of being a Caregiver for my Aunt, the property we shared together, so much that was lost in the fires of 2016.

Jan. 26, 2024 Another Poem & It’s From Sept. 2004

“As If” was inspired by a ghostly phenomena I witnessed with my sister just after my dog dying and being readied for cremation, here in Lake County, CA. The sweet terminally ill old dog was born in San Francisco, CA to a much loved pet that passed 10 years earlier. The two, a mother and a daughter, were practically inseparable in life and the younger dog seemed to mourn her passing in 1994. My sister and I were driving back home when out of nowhere, above us but in front of the car, two wisps of thin, swirling and rising, intertwining thin lines of a foggy-type substance were dancing, rising up to the heavens as we drove under this. So? Here’s the poem:

Yesterday, I saw two spirits dancing and playing in the wind

as if they were two lives separated by death

and they were joyously reunited, again.

Today, I saw snow drifting down upon the mountain

as if it was powder being sifted by Gods graceful hand.

And, next week, I plan to look with awe and wonder

at autumn as if it sings it’s September song

in notes of vibrant color.

When I get old, I might be too weak as to enjoy life

as if I am only a ghost of my fervent youth and very, feeble.

Upon my death, I probably will be laid to rest 6 feet under

but my soul may rise as if it’s soaring like an angel

released by a clap of thunder.

And, long after I am gone, you might hear a sound,

a bump in the night or feel a wisp of wind

as if something unearthly is trying to make you tremble.

But all it might be is me as Gods fated decision,

watching over you as your Guardian Angel.
